The final day of Flyin to the Hoop has a great variety of matchups that any basketball fan would enjoy watching. To start off the day you have a Prep school vs an Ohio Public school with some high level prospects. Mid day you have two small town schools battling and going head to head in Margaretta and Valley View. Then to end the day you have one of the best schools in Cincinnati in Lakota West facing off against the home team Kettering Fairmont.
Game 1 of the day is a matchup between Pace Academy and Lima Senior. Both teams are no stranger to the event and they both are looking to come back this year and leave with a big victory. Lima is led by a trio of prospects in Shawn Foster, Willie Foster, and the senior Jekel Cotton. Shawn Foster is one of the highest rated prospects in Ohio in the 2027 class. He has incredible athleticism and can pull it and knock down shots from anywhere on the floor. Jekel Cotton is a 6’6 lengthy wing who has guard like skills and the ability to get to the paint and stop on a dime for pull up jumpers. He also will knock down the 3 ball from deep at a high percentage. Pace Academy relies on their size to take on their opponents. They are led by 6’6 Chandler Bing and 6’9 Bentley Lusakueno. This should be a great battle to start off the day.
Game 2 of the day is another battle between a national prep team and a high level Ohio team. Toledo Whitmer takes on Combine Academy in the second matchup of the day. Whitmer is led by some incredible guard play. They have a three headed monster in their backcourt. Antoine West Jr 6’2, Mahki Leach 6’2, and Andre Young 6’3 are almost impossible to defend for most teams. These are three guards who all will be playing at the D1 level in college. Combine Academy has an incredible guard of their own in Kaden Magwood. He is a 4 star recruit and top 50 in the nation. Going to be a battle between Magwood and the trio of guards for Whitmer.
The third game of the day is a small town showdown between Margaretta and Valley View. Julian Washington, that is the name to know in this matchup!! He is 6’4 and is one of the fastest rising prospects in Ohio in class 2026. He has incredible athleticism and can get to the basket almost at will. On the other side is a hard nosed fundamental team in Valley View. They have a few sophomore prospects that can really go in Brody Denny and Ty Fritz. This game should really bring out the crowd as the small towns always show out in these events. I’m really looking forward to this game on Monday.
The next game of the day is Pickerington North and Beavercreek. Both of these teams are not having the years that they thought they would be having up to this point. However, they have always performed well at Flyin to the Hoop. Beavercreek is led by guard Isaiah Williams Jr and wing Kaden Ellerbe who is a High Major track star. Pickerington North has one of the best guards in the state in Arness Lawson. He is a strong defensive minded guard that will not make it easy on Isaiah Williams on Monday. This should be a dog fight between these two teams who both are looking to get back on track for the second half of the season.
The final game of the whole event at Flyin to the Hoop is between Lakota West and Kettering Fairmont, the home team. Lakota West is led by sophomore guard Josh Tyson and senior guard Isaiah Meade Moss. Both these guards are hard nosed tough guards that can get to the paint and make it easier for their teammates. Josh Tyson has been blowing up lately and picking up multiple D1 offers. Kettering Fairmont runs through Evan Gentile and Brock Baker. This duo is looking to defend their home court on Monday night and show that they are just as good as the Cincinnati teams in this Dayton vs Cincinnati matchup!
